About
Hi, I'm Caz.
I run Starfish Babywear, a crochet business where I, perhaps unsurprisingly, make baby clothes and accessories like blankets. I don't limit myself to that though - I also make children's items and adult items. For the most part, if it can be crocheted, I can make it. The only thing I don't do is make toys or other items that would need CE or other appropriate safety testing. [If you see soft toys, they are either gifts or for personal use as these don't have to be tested.]
Now a bit about me. I'm married and have three children (Squish, Lumpy and Giraffe), whom we home educate. We live in Yorkshire in the UK, and we currently have 2 cats, 2 rabbits and 4 chickens living with us. [The chickens and rabbits live outside, and thankfully the cats don't really care much about my yarn!]
My main role is a birth doula. For those of you who don't know what that is, I provide practical, emotional and informational support to parents during pregnancy, childbirth and the immediate postnatal period.* Birth work can be a bit like waiting for a bus - nothing for ages and then three come at once - so sometimes I am very busy and sometimes I'm not busy at all. During those not very busy times, I crochet. A lot!
I also crochet when I am working with clients. Crochet is very relaxing, both for me and for the people who I support, and I have been known to sit on a chair or on the stairs during a birth and do a bit of crocheting to pass the time... I've even had midwives comment on how wonderful it is.
I take on custom orders during my less busy times, but if I am particularly busy with birth work or life stuff or home educating, then I close to customs and just crochet in-stock items for my store, or things for my family.
Whatever I'm doing, I almost always have crochet with me, and I plan to share that with you too!
See you around!
Caz
